Louis XVI style gilt bronze and inlaid side cabinet.

Wooden side cabinet inlaid with crosspieces, geometrical motives and enriched with gilt bronze decorations. It stands on four ribbed and fluted legs. uprights are decorated with bundles of the lictors and the front of the drawer has a medallion with cherubs decorations. Lower part opening with two sliding curtains and for the upper part, three small drawers open on a recess with mirror. Central drawer has a secret opening mechanism, triggered by a push button hidden under the drawer's rail. Hidden mechanism piece of furniture of great quality dating from the end of the XIXth century and inspired by the Louis XVI style.

About the context

The trend for past, and specially for the XVIIIth century had a strong influence on the artistic production of the time, particuliarly in the field of furniture where it lead to a strong and increasing demand of copies and style works. This gave way for a fundamental element of the fabrication process : the model.
